Liner Notes

A two-CD collection of outstanding performances from 14 different Village Harmony traveling ensembles during 2007 and 2008. Based in Vermont, Village Harmony is dedicated to the study and performance of traditional polyphonic singing styles, sponsoring an extensive program of traveling singing camps for teenagers and adults across the globe. Each group learns its repertoire in an intensive week-long rehearsal retreat before going on the road for a concert tour. The New England sessions are just students ages 12-18; the overseas camps include a mixture of ages. Remarkably, all the ensembles are non-auditioned.

The ensembles on this album:

Most tracks recorded live at concerts, with attendant audience and ambient noises, using a variety of recording devices. Edited by Patty Cuyler and Larry Gordon. Mastered by Geof Brumbaugh, Common Ground Audio, Montpelier, Vermont.
